Melvin Francis, 78, of Wilburton, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, Mary Kay; his son: Kyle; and his granddaughter: Morgan.
The funeral service was held at noon on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Jones Harkins Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Willard Francis officiating. The burial followed at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Wilburton, Oklahoma under the direction of Jones Harkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Francis, Kyle Francis, Morgan Francis, Brynnan Crose, James Hardy, and Bill Smith.
Melvin’s honorary pallbearer was his former teacher and beloved friend: Pastor Donnie Russell.
Melvin was born on November 29, 1942 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to Noah Lillard Francis and Elva (Clark) Francis. He married Mary Kay Darneal on January 12, 1974.
Melvin served in the United States Army Reserve and the Oklahoma National Guard. For most of 40 years, Melvin worked in the oil fields of Oklahoma and Arkansas operating heavy equipment, He retired from the Latimer County District No.1 Office as a heavy equipment operator. Melvin enjoyed retirement fishing at Carlton Lake (Melvin’s Honey Hole)!
