Janette (Janet) T. Jones was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 13, 1936 to the late Mr. Tom and Mrs. Hattie Dewberry.

She received an early education in the Birmingham Public School system, where she attended Council Elementary School and Parker Highschool in 1954.

Mrs. Jones was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother, Homemaker, Servant, and a Virtuous Woman of God. She received Christ at an early age and joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Ensley, under the leadership of Reverend Cunningham. She served faithfully in several capacities: the Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School department, Vacation Bible School Assistant Director for over 40 years, Youth Department supervisor, Teacher with Macedonia Preschool, the Sisterhood, and the Missionary Society where she remained faithful until the Lord called her home. She was a dedicated political activist with Jefferson County Metropolitan Democratic Women for over 20 years working for various local and state politicians.

Janet was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Dewey Jones March 18th, 1955 and was a devoted homemaker. To this union three children were born, Crenesia McArthur, Gerlad Jones, and LaCrecia Suttles.

Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her parents Mr. Tom and Hattie Dewberry, her loving husband of 63 years, Dewey Jones, sister, Jacqueline Willis, brothers, Marvin (Sonny) Cotton, and John Wilbert Dewberry.

In the setting of the sun, September 26, 2018, Janet waited patiently for the call and to hear the words of God saying, Well Done Good and Faithful Servant.

Funeral Service Saturday, October 6, 2018, 11:00 AM, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1329 Avenue G, Birmingham.

Committal Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham.
