Meredith Austin Willis, 83, was born on Feb. 27, 1937 to the late Sanders and Winnie Johnson Willis Sr. He was called home to be with the Lord on Dec. 9, 2020, after a brief illness at Mon Valley Hospital. He was anchored in the Lord and loved by all. Meredith was one of 11 children who grew up in Clarksville, Pa. He was educated in East Bethlehem School District and West Jefferson School District. He served in the U.S. Navy where he retired from, later making his home in Philadelphia. He returned to Clarksville to reside. He also worked for the United Mines Workers, later joining the PA Department of Corrections. Meredith married Margaret A. Willis on Jan. 10, 1989. After moving to Monongahela, Meredith joined Bethel AME Church where he served on the steward board. Meredith was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to Friendship Chapter No. 4 Holy Royal Arch Masons, Philadelphia. He was also, a member of St. Cypria Chapter No. 9 Consistory, and a member of MonYough Lodge No. 79 Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Meredith was pre-deceased by his daughter, Earthla Willis; brothers, Sanders Jr., Herman, Leonard, Cephas, Wade, Martin; and sisters, Celestine Harris and Barbara J. Matthews. He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. Willis of Monongahela; one sister, Juanita Jones of Washington, Pa.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. Final celebration has been gently placed in the hands of the HOUSE OF JACKSON MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 546 Thompson Ave., Donora, Karl Jackson, funeral director, 724-379-5420.
