John Wayne Branson, 70, a resident of Johnsontown Road passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at his residence. He was born January 19, 1950 in Guilford County, NC, the son of the late John William Branson, Jr. and Dora Magdalene Frank Branson. Mr. Branson served his country in the United States Army and the National Guard. For more than twenty years, he was a member of Gospelway Baptist Church in High Point, NC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three grandsons. He was married April 6, 1976 to Carleen Underwood Branson who survives of the home. Also surviving are three sons, Peter Underwood and wife Linda of Thomasville, Timothy Scott Royal and wife Mary of High Point, NC, and Mark McGee and wife Ashley of Wallburg, NC; one sister, Sherry Wells of Lexington, NC; one brother, Donald Branson of Lexington, NC; three grandchildren, Nicholas Underwood, Andrew Royal and Autumn McGee.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Gospelway Baptist Church in High Point, NC with Rev. Danny McMahan officiating. Interment will follow at Floyd’s Baptist Church Cemetery in Lexington, NC with full military honors.
