James L. Vincent of Marshfield, formerly of Charlton, New York, passed away on December 4, 2020, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 74.

Beloved husband of MaryAnn (Helwig) Vincent; loving father of Danielle Vincent and her partner Mark Lauzon of Marshfield and Jamie Lynne Vincent Fiet and her husband Justin of Melrose, NY; cherished grandfather of Maggie and James Zawalick; dear brother of Lyman Leslie Vincent and his wife Carol. Son of the late Leslie and Margaret (Palmatier) Vincent, he also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated Niskayuna High School in Niskayuna New York and earned an Associates degree in Automotive Engineering from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York. He then served in the U.S. Navy with the 41st Flighter Squadron. Jim took great pride serving with his Navy Brothers.

After his 4 years with the Navy, Jim earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Psychology from Russell Sage College in New York and began a lifelong career with Niagara Mohawk, then PSEG, retiring several years ago. He met and married the love of his life MaryAnn in 1985 and proudly adopted Danielle as his second daughter. One of Jim’s proudest accomplishments was building his log home in Charlton, New York with his beloved German Shepard Princess by his side.

Jim volunteered at Veterans Hospice, Immaculate Conception Church (Glenville NY), and St Vincent DePaul Society. He was an avid golfer who loved being outside, walking, hiking, biking, and playing tennis. Jim was a wonderful story teller. From his childhood memories, Navy time and beyond, he could go on for hours to anyone who would listen. Jim also worked part time for Fogg’s Auotomotive Glenville NY where he was known as the man who could fix anything.

Jim and MaryAnn traveled on their excellent adventures south (with dear friends) for several months each year visiting New Bern, North Carolina, Edisto South Carolina, and St. Augustine Florida, among others. In 2018 after Jim’s Parkinson’s Disease progressed the decision was made to relocate to Marshfield to be closer to family. For the past few years Jim was an active participant with 110 Fitness in Rockland, which offers non-contact boxing, fitness and wellness programs specifically created for participants with Parkinson's Disease.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He will be forever missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 beginning at 4:00 p.m. and will conclude with a Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. A private Interment with Military Honors will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to South Shore Hospice, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland MA 02370, or to 110 Fitness and Wellness, 200B Weymouth Street, Rockland MA 02370.
