Catherine Brown Murphy- Affectionately known as “Aunt Cat, Kitty Cat, or Murphy”, was born on January 28, 1922 to the late Joe and Lula Brown. She was the baby of 9 siblings. She grew up in Darby, FL and later moved to San Antonio (Pasco Station), FL, where she met and married her husband, the late Ossie Murphy. In her early years, Catherine was a member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, she became a member of the Church of the Living God (now Known as Josephine Street Church of the Living God), under the leadership of her brother, Elder Willie Brown, Sr. Throughout her life, Aunt Cat was employed briefly in Domestic Work and later, she became an employee for St. Leo College, Holy Name Priory and St. Leo University as the “Omelet Cook”, which she enjoyed for many years until retirement. She was dedicated to her neighborhood and community- she provided services to all those that were in need, including “Cab Driver”- you name it, she did it! Aunt Cat is fondly remembered as a feisty, witty and extremely engaging lady, who loved and cared for everyone. She loved her family, playing “Bingo” and attending Sunday School.
