Genevieve Adair 1918-1991
The twelth and last child, born on May 13, 1918, was Genevieve. The family was living in Pinetop, but John was working at the ranch, when messengers were sent to tell him that Genevieve was about to be born. Although her name was Genevieve, she was known as "Sis". She was spoiled rotten with all those brothers around, and she could never go anywhere without one or more of the boys "escorting" her. They all doted on her, including her mom and dad.
Genevieve's first marriage was on November 20, 1937 to Lloyd David Truscott, son of David Truscott and Arabelle Scow. Genevieve and Lloyd met at The Blue Moon Dance Hall in Pinetop, and her brothers' took great delight in teasing her about Lloyd's height. He was just over five feet tall. When Lloyd came to pick Genevieve up for their first date, Genevieve's tallest brother, Lloyd Edwin, opened the door. He stuck his head out and looked down the road one way, and then the other. He looked down at Lloyd David and asked him what his daddy sent him after. The family laughed about the incident for the rest of their lives.
Lloyd and Genevieve had three children: Beverly Ann, Berniece, and John David. Her second marriage was on December 18, 1951 in Gallup, New Mexico to Arthur Elmer Johnson II, son of Arthur Elmer Johnson and Polly Mae Packer.
Genevieve was the last child of the family to pass away on September 8, 1991 in Holbrook, Arizona. She was laid to rest in Holbrook, and was the only child her father did not have to bury before his own death.
