Julia was born January 25, 1934 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late John L. Price and Ona Lee Trull Price. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years; Claude D. Pope on March 4, 2005 along with three half-brothers; Max C. Price, Albright L. Trull and Jennings K. Trull.
Survivors include two Sons, Cristopher D. Pope and wife Amy of Durham, along with grandson Elijah, and Jeffrey L. Pope and wife Wendy of Charlotte. Also surviving is a brother, Dr. Luther M. Price and wife Claudia of Anderson, SC, half-sisters; Betty Price Kennedy, Viola Price James, Ruby Price Helms, Gladys Price Byrd and Eunice T. Suther, half-brothers; Loyd Price, Boyd Price and Burice Price.
Julia was a registered nurse at Cabarrus Hospital in Concord and later worked at Duke University Medical Center in Durham until her retirement. She had worked as a registered nurse for forty years.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she had sung in the choir, taught the Grief Share Members, was a teacher with White Rose Ministry, gave devotionals at Morningside Retirement Center and was a published author.
In appreciation of Mrs. Pope’s lifetime of service to public health attendees will be required to wear masks and social distancing will be required.
There will be a graveside service 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Carolina Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Dean Hunter and Rev. Curtis Parker. For those who cannot attend, the graveside service will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/209363252444136.
