Staff Sergeant Daniel E. Morris, IV of Bristol, CT was born in Syracuse NY on May 26th, 1956 to proud parents Daniel Morris, III and Margaret Mary Connolly.
He lived everyday loving life with a positive outlook about everything. His favorite things to say were "Everyday is a Friday", and "there is a solution to everything".
He had a great sense of humor, as laughter surrounded him at all times. Everyone wanted to be his friend. He loved to eat, a.k.a. the "human garbage disposal". Growing up he enjoyed playing and working on the family farm in Cortland, NY. After having 2 children, Dan and Marie, he honorably joined and served his country in the Air Force at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida, and Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. As a Staff Sergeant at both bases, he held important positions in air operations at the 83rd tactical fighter wing test squadron at Tyndall, and in air operations at the 49th tactical fighter wing at Holloman.
His children were highly influenced by his career growing up around fighter jets, as his son later became a pilot, and we regularly traveled to see air shows.
After retiring from the air force he went into the construction, landscaping and building materials industries. He loved what he did and saw everything and everyday with a positive outlook/glass half full type of mentality.
He was a big kid at heart, and his grandchildren, Griffin, Jon Paul, and Ellie loved this about him, and enjoyed every second they spent with him. He was a huge football fan. He played football when he was in the Air Force with his colleagues, but later in life he still felt like part of the game as he actively watched it on TV. He loved to be outside hiking, bike riding, and swimming. He loved to travel. Besides traveling throughout the United States, he enjoyed cruises, trips to Canada, and a trip of a lifetime to where many of his ancestors are from, Ireland.
Dan was a great man, with a great attitude, a great outlook, and a lot of fun. His smiles, laughter, and positivity will be missed very much by his children, grandchildren, sisters Julie, Mary Kristen, and Cathy, girlfriend Pam, and his many, many friends.
When he was first diagnosed with cancer his daughter Marie gave him an Air Force hat that stated "Never Accept Defeat". As Bruce Lee once said, "Defeat is a state of mind; no one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as reality". He lived everyday with this mentality, until the day he passed on Saturday May 9th, 2020. An Irish Blessing for this Great Man: "May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand." I have to believe, those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear.
