Michael L. Mason, age 78, passed away on December 11, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, IN. Mike was born January 19, 1942 in Spurgeon, IN. He was the son of Howard Owen Mason & Ruth Elinor (Toole) Mason-France.
Mike attended Spurgeon Grade School and High School until 1959. He graduated from Winslow High School in 1960 as co-valedictorian. He was a graduate of Oakland City College in August 1963 with Cum Laude honors.
Mike served in the US Army from November 1963 - November 1965 primarily at Fort Meade, Maryland. He married Dorothy "Dotty" Fella on May 1964. She passed away in April 2005. They had one son, Kelvin (Kathy) Mason born in April 1967 and one granddaughter, Alyssa born in 1998 of Newburgh, IN. Both survive.
Mike was an accountant and worked at Geo Koch Sons, Alcoa, and Monticello Manor, Small & Schelosky Flooring Distributers, and Crawford Door-Wayne Dalton until his retirement in 2005. After retirement, he volunteered at the Bread of Life Ministry and Warrick County Habitat of Humanity. Mike went on mission trips to Red Bird Mission and to Henryville, IN. He was of the United Methodist faith, serving on the Board of Trustees and was church treasurer at Faith United Methodist Church in Boonville, IN.
Mike married Mary (Bunch) Lantaff-Mason in June 2006 and she survives.
Graveside Funeral Service will be 12:00 PM (CST) December 15, 2020 at Spurgeon Cemetery in Spurgeon, IN. There will be NO public visitation. Please practice social distancing and wear a mask if you plan to attend the burial.
