US Congressman. He was secretary to Chief Justice Melville W. Fuller of the Supreme Court of the United States, 1905 to 1907, was admitted to the bar in 1907 and commenced law practice in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1908, he moved to Chicago and was special counsel to the Comptroller of the Currency, 1926 to 1928. In 1941, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-seventh and Seventy-eighth Congresses, serving until 1945. A unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death.
