James Ralph “Jim” McIntosh, 75, Spickard, MO passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Northeast Regional Hospital, Kirksville, MO.

James "Jim" Ralph McIntosh, son of Amanda Louise (Hodges) and William Clinton McIntosh, was born April 6, 1945 in Mercer, Missouri. He lived the majority of his life in the vicinity and was always proud of Mercer County, never missing a Homecoming on the square.

His railroad career was a huge part of his identity, making lifelong friends while working on the Rock Island, Chicago Northwestern, and Union Pacific Lines. He never forgot the good times they had. He eloped with Rhonda Romayne Robinson in 1964, on October 31, not because it was Halloween, but because it was his younger brother’s birthday. They moved out to Burley, Idaho for a few months, but the pull of Mercer County brought Jim back to the land and people he loved.

After retiring, he found both a new hobby and a new group of friends while providing transportation services among the various Amish communities. He was generally considered a crowd pleaser, especially with the small children, to whom he would pass out candy every time he came around. He was well respected amongst this new family as well, who will also be coming together to set his Earthly remains to rest.

His memory will forever be a blessing to his brothers: William David McIntosh, Rick Keith McIntosh, Daniel Glenn Collier, and Forrest Wayne Collier. He is also survived by his treasured wife, Rhonda; their daughters, Jolene Kay Hawthorne with husband Larry, Amanda Jayne McIntosh with life partner, Ed Boyd; nephew, George Robinson, raised by Jim and Rhonda; grandchildren, Ethan James Hawthorne, Emily Rose Schmitz, and his delightful great-grandson, Harley Isaac Schmitz. He will be missed by an incredible number of friends and family.
