Charlie grew in the Appalachian Mountains, started working in the coal mines at age 13. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On June 30, 1967 he married the love of his life, Bobbi (Dozier) Moore who preceded him in death in 2015. They moved to Shawneetown shortly there after along with other family members to work in the coal mines. He retired after 40 years and was a UMWA member. He was an American Legion member in Shawneetown. He loved his yard and was always so particular keeping it looking good. He loved to be with his family and friends especially his brother-in-law, Benny Dozier. They spent many a hour riding around the Gallatin County area enjoying the scenery. Charlie is survived by his son, Michael Moore of Shawneetown and daughter, Tracie (Wade) Pride of Sturgis, KY. 3 grandchildren, Shea Saltzman, Hannah Moore and Abbie Moore, 2 great grandchildren, Alynna Moore and Waylon Murphy. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Ted, Carl, Roy and Ed Moore and 4 sisters, Bessie Moore, Wilma Witt, Mamie Hamilton and Maxie Smith.
Visitation for Charlie will be on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the Cox & Son Funeral home in Shawneetown from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. His funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating and interment will be in Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown, with military rites.
