He was the son of the late Clifford and Nancy Williams.
Fred was born in the town of Kershaw. He had a wonderful family of 3 sisters and one brother....Bet, Frankie, Carol, and Jim. Frankie was his twin sister. He looked forward to his many trips back to Kershaw to visit his sisters, brother, and their families.
He graduated from Coker College and received his Masters degree from Western Carolina. He was an elementary school principal and history teacher in the Aiken County School System for over 30 years.
Fred is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn; sons Brian (Christina) and Patrick; grandchildren Alexandra and Nikolas.
The joy of Fred's life was his 2 sons, Brian and Patrick. He loved every day that he was able to spend with them.
Fred was so happy to have a daughter in the family when Brian married Christina. Brian and Christina blessed him with 2 precious grandchildren. He adored them and they called him Captain.
Fred embraced the Willis family. He had a wonderful relationship with Carolyn's father, J.O.Willis, and spent many years helping take care of Carolyn's mom, Jennie Lee Willis. He enjoyed spending time with Carolyn's brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Ann Willis. He especially loved their 4 daughters and was so proud of their accomplishments.
Fred was a quiet man who loved to read and learn. He spent many hours at USCA taking classes in all subjects. He loved exercise...yoga, running, and walking were just a few of the many things he would do to keep fit.
Fred especially enjoyed his "Waffle House Friends" and was sad to see the Covid virus eliminate their weekly breakfast group.
Church was important to Fred. He attended Grace Methodist Church, but always looked forward to the Sundays that they would attend St. John's. Fred and Carolyn were married at St. John's and both sons were baptized there.
A family Internment Service will be held in Bethany Cementery with Dr. Timothy McClendon officating.
