Thelma Irene (Swank) Bryant
July 23, 1939 ~ December 11, 2020 (age 81)

Thelma Bryant passed away from natural causes in Danville Indiana on December 11, 2020. She was 81. Born in Indianapolis Indiana on July 23, 1939 to parents Charles and Myla.

A private grave side service will take place on December 15, 2020 at the West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, she would have preferred you donate to your favorite charity.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, sister Betty (Ralph), son James and son-in-law Mike.

She is survived by daughters Theresa and Myla, sons Charles (Amy) and Ronald. Grandchildren, Mike (Hannah), Jess (Mallory), Richard, Taylor (James), Victoria (Justin), Joseph (Melissa), Krista (Coby), Chanda (Kayla), Kara (Fred), Cassandra and James, as well as 21 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Thelma married Joseph on July 19, 1957 and was primarily a housewife and loving mother of 5. As the children moved away, she found work as a nursing assistant, factory worker, and ended her working career as the beloved “Grandma” of the Avon Indiana Wal-Mart.

In retirement she loved to play bingo and could not wait to tell you how she was “just one number away”. She loved seeing and spending time around her grandkids and great grandkids, enjoying their activities and always referred to as Nana or Grandma.

A favorite activity was spending her days riding along with daughter Theresa as she performed her duties as a mobile x-ray technician. She also enjoyed watching TV programs Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and getting her hair done. And loved catching up with her many of her life-long friends.

Thelma would spend the first of each month stocking up on birthday and other special occasion cards, and all her friends and family knew exactly when they could expect their particular card(s).

One of her most beloved passions was traveling, and did she travel… many trips to California, Texas, Tennessee to see her family and friends. She enjoyed trips to Chicago, and once-in-a-lifetime vacations to New York City and Hawaii.

Fun fact about Thelma, she still drove with both feet (right foot gas, left foot brake).
