Thomas E. "Dewey" Walls, 75, of Verner, departed this life Monday, December 7, 2020 from his residence. Dewey enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler, but his greatest joy was going to church and singing. He was an honorary member of the Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church; he was also a member of the U.M.W.A.

Born July 16, 1945 at Verner, he was the son of the late Joseph Wilson Walls (1875-1969) and Minnie Browning-Walls (1912-1988). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lennie Walls (1932-1933), and Doyle Grant Walls (1935-2008); his half brothers, Albert Jackson Walls (1903-1960), Leander "Lee" Milton Walls (1905-1980), William Edward Walls (1910-1990), and Joseph Harley Walls (1921-2006); his sisters, Rita Jean Walls-Fortner (Deceased), and Blanche Rebecca Walls (1955-1955); and his half sisters, India Walls-Justice (1897-Deceased), Dorothia A. Walls-Cook-Mitchell (1899-Deceased), Lena Alice Walls-Hatfield (1901-1991), Fannie Walls-Maynard-Carter (1908-Deceased), Evie Pearl Walls-Lester (1912-2002), Betty Walls (1915-1917), Zetta Virginia Walls-Lester (1916-2010), Belva Walls-White (Deceased), and Lessie Opal Walls-Dietrich (1924-Deceased).

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his sisters, Susie Ann Walls-Davis & husband John Davis, and Naomi Ruth Walls-Reichert & husband John Reichert, all of New York; brother, Daniel David Walls & wife Tina Walls of Oceana; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews; and a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Saturday, December 12, 2020 after 6:00 pm at the Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church, with special service at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will commence there at the church Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 12:00 pm with Rev. Roger Browning, Rev. Jackie Grimmett, Rev. Jackie Jesse, Rev. Joe Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Leatherwood Memorial Cemetery at Justice, WV.
