Gina loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. She was outgoing, always smiling and easily made friends. She loved cheerleading and, starting at age 6, attended cheer camps nearly every summer. She graduated from Western Guilford High School in 1999 and Magna Cum Laude from UNC-Wilmington in 2003 with a BA in Business Management with a Concentration in Marketing. Immediately after college, Gina was determined to set the fashion world on fire and moved to New York City for positions with Saks Fifth Avenue and Coach. She then moved to Los Angeles, CA to further her career and worked in merchandising at BCBG and Lucky Brands. In order to be closer to family, Gina moved back to North Carolina where she worked as a Senior Merchandising Manager at Kayser-Roth Corporation in Greensboro and later at MAS US Holdings in Asheboro. She had recently moved to St. Louis, Missouri for an exciting opportunity as a Merchandising Executive at Soft Surroundings, Inc.
Gina was predeceased by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Elroy and LaVerne Hardy Barnes and Rev. and Mrs. Isaac C. and Willie Mae Everette, as well as uncles Keith Barnes, Isaac (Zeke) Everette, Jr. and Woodrow Everette.
Left to cherish Gina’s precious memory are her parents, John L. and Diane Everette Barnes; brother Christopher T. Barnes, sister Danielle N. Barnes; aunts Lynette B. Shoffner and Diena Burton (Van); cousin and second mom Lisa R. Shoffner; uncles Jerry D. Everette (Hattie) and Rashidi Everette, as well as a host of cousins, family, and friends.
