Ronald “Ron” Perry, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020, after a brief fight with pneumonia. He was 78.

He was born in Miami Station, Missouri, and grew up in Brunswick, where he graduated high school in 1960. Immediately upon graduating, and at the age of 17, he joined the United States Navy. He served for 20 years, retiring at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Afterward, he settled in Carrollton where he spent the remainder of his life.

While in Carrollton, Ron worked as a shoe salesman, surveyor’s assistant, and clerk at the Break Time gas station. He was known for his quick wit and desire to tease just about anybody he knew. He was passionate about bowling, basketball, and baseball – his all-time favorite player being Hank Aaron. Ron was a long-time umpire for Carrollton girls’ softball and was often seen around the ball fields. He was a voracious reader, mostly Ellery Queen and Alfred Hitchcock mysteries, or anything related to the subject of World War II.
