Maxine Ruth Morris, 90, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at her home. She was born on May 18, 1930 in Columbus, Kansas. She was united in marriage to William E. Morris, who preceded her in death.

Maxine attended Kansas schools. She worked very hard over the years as a cosmetologist. Maxine enjoyed needle point and sewing. She and William traveled all over the United States making homemade root beer at festivals and celebrations. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing card games and dominos. She and William also operated Maxine’s Country Cafe in Russellville for several years.

She is survived by her children: Robert Morris (Gloria) of Ellijay, Georgia, Mike Morris (Susan) of Jefferson City and David Morris (Ann) of Peculiar; daughter-in-law: Diane Morris of California; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Maxine and William also took in six nieces and nephews at a young age when their parents passed unexpectedly: Cheryl Barton, Jeannie Wright, Mary Verry, Ricky Barton, Rodney Barton and David Barton. She was preceded in death by her mother: Rhoda Hilton; husband: William; and children: Charles Morris, Cheryl Barton and Ricky Barton.

Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Corticelli Baptist Church, 57731 State Highway C, Russellville, Missouri 65074 with funeral services following at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rick Seaton officiating. Interment will be held at Park Cemetery in Columbus, Kansas on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Corticelli Baptist Church in Russellville.
