John M. Gates Jr. 74, Gallitzin died December 9, 2020 at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. Born August 29, 1946 in Fallentimber the son of the late John Sr. and Audrey (Gallagher) Gates. Preceded in death by a grandson Brandon on July 10, 2006 and a sister Judy Storm.

Survived by his wife the former Marjorie Reed whom he married Nov. 30, 1968 and his children; Paul (Sherry), Shelly Gates (Joe Kruczewski), Darrell and Connie (Paul) Noel, grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Dolcy and Alexandra a great-grandson Bailey sister Theresa Reed and brother Ronald Gates.

John enjoyed playing bingo, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and watching baseball. John sold tickets for St. Patrick Church for many years, delivered newspapers in Gallitzin for years. Member of Gallitzin Moose and St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9:30 util 10:30 am Saturday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin.
