Paul Edwin Nesmith, Sr., age 87, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020. Paul was born on Thursday, April 13, 1933, in Mechanicsburg to the late Joseph W. Nesmith, Sr. and Edith Pearl (Henry) Nesmith. In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his two brothers: Joseph W. Nesmith, Jr. and David H. Nesmith; and his two sisters: Frances Thomas and Margaret Shreve.

Paul’s survivors include his wife of 65 years, Hannah “Liz” Elizabeth (Stone) Nesmith; his five children: Michael “Mike” Nesmith and wife Peggy of Dillsburg, Kay Nesmith and husband George of Bethesda, MD, Paul Nesmith, Jr. and wife Suzanne of Camp Hill, David “Dave” Nesmith and wife Gretchen of Mechanicsburg, Andrew “Andy” Nesmith of Mechanicsburg; his 10 grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Paul graduated from Mechanicsburg High School, Class of 1951. He served in the 82nd Airborne Maintenance Division of the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan. He was employed as a machinist at the Naval Ship Parts Control Center for 34 years. He then continued part-time employment for 30 more years at Cumberland Tool and Die where his sons were employed. Paul was an avid animal lover, with a special place in his heart for his dog Nikki and his grand-dog Zoe. He very much enjoyed golfing with his sons and nephews. Paul travelled extensively around the globe, but enjoyed his yearly excursions to Myrtle Beach, SC. He was also a sports fan, particularly enjoying Mechanicsburg Sandlot baseball and High School football.

Paul’s family will be remembering his life privately. Burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville will be at the family’s convenience.
