James “Jim” E. Zimmerman, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away, Tuesday, December 8, at his home, following a sudden illness.
Born, July 21, 1956, in Secane, PA., he was a son of the late Donald and Elizabeth “Betty” Cadge Zimmerman.
Jim graduated from Ridley High School. He obtained his bachelors degree from Shippensburg University, and continued his education at Bowling Green University, receiving his graduate degree in School Psychology.
He was united in holy matrimony to Jane Derda Zimmerman on July 7, 1984 and they were blessed to raise their daughter together.
Jim was an active member of Holy Trinity Parish in East Liverpool. He retired after 30 years of service from East Liverpool City School District where he worked as a School Psychologist. Jim was currently employed at BOSS in East Liverpool.
Jim was a gentle, smart, kind, funny, sensitive, and humble man and was loved by his family and friends. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and he enjoyed traveling, fishing, music and spending time with his friends and family.
Jim will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Jane Zimmerman; daughter, Lisa Zimmerman of Boardman; brothers, Donald R. Zimmerman Jr. and Edward Zimmerman and his wife, Kathy all of Philadelphia; brother in laws John Derda and his wife and Jim Derda all of Charlotte; His nieces Kristen Meo and Sarah Derda and nephews Justin Zimmerman and Eric Derda. He will also be missed by his adored fur baby, Higgins.
Father Scott Kopp will preside a private memorial Catholic Funeral Liturgy at Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius. Interment will be held at a later date. The Arner Funeral Chapel assisted with making these arrangements.
