Virginia was born Nov. 10, 1915, at Princeton to Sidney Andrew and Laura Fern Allen Ruhl. She grew up and went to school in Princeton.
She was married to Oran Van Dyke in 1932. They had three children, Jerry, Fern and Lois and were divorced in 1941.
Virginia married Allen R. Loomis July 30, 1942, and had a son, Larry A. Loomis. Allen died Nov. 19, 1970.
On March 12, 1973, Virginia married Joe Babbitt and gained, by marriage, four more children, Bernard, Leroy, Jerry and Janice. Joe died in 1997.
Virginia loved gardening, cooking and making quilts and especially loved all children.
Virginia is survived by Jerry and Jean Van Dyke of Deary, Fern and Bob Walker of Spokane, Lois Hamilton of Spokane, Larry and Sheila Loomis of Moscow, Leroy and Penny Babbitt of Buckley, Wash., Jerry and Sara Babbitt of Kodiak, Alaska, and Janice Whitman of Pullman. Also surviving are her 31 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma Haxton of Tustin, Calif.
One son, Bernard Babbitt, preceded her in death.
Viewing is from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Friends and family are invited to gather at the funeral home Wednesday, and the procession to the Moscow Cemetery will begin at 11 a.m. for the graveside service.
The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of choice.
