Jeffrey Lee Nelson, of Dixon, was born April 28, 1963, at Jefferson City, a son of Eugene “Gene” and Phyllis (Ewers) Nelson, and departed this life at 3:44 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2020, in SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital, Jefferson City. He had attained the age of 57 years, 7 months, and 8 days.

Jeff was united in marriage on March 2, 2007, at Vienna, to Lisa Kay Arnold.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, and the Freeburg and Vienna Volunteer Departments. Jeff was a 1981 graduate of Maries R-1 High School, and received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Columbia College. He had been employed at Quaker Window Products Company, Freeburg, ABB, Jefferson City, for sixteen years, and operated the Turf Doctor Lawn Service, Freeburg, as well as being a cattle farmer.

Those left to mourn the passing of Jeff include: His wife, Lisa Nelson, of the home near Dixon; one daughter, Shelby Massman (Caleb), Freeburg; granddaughters, Scarlett and Bristol; his parents, Gene and Phyllis Nelson, Dixon; brother, Gregory “Greg” Nelson (Malinda), Dixon; uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relative and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Austin Lee Turner Nelson on July 24, 2007; paternal grandparents, Raymond Levi on July 5, 1973, and Beda Helen (Ragan) Nelson on December 13, 1993; and maternal grandparents, Ildaphonse “Ilda” George on October 9, 1998; and Louise K. (Weider) Ewers on July 4, 2015.

All attending the visitation and funeral Mass for Jeff are required to wear personal masks or other personal protective equipment, follow social distancing and close contact guidelines, and adhere to COVID-19 protocol.

Visitation for Jeff will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2020, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, Missouri 65035, with his Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. in the Church with the Rev. William D. Debo as the celebrant.

Interment will be in the Kenner Cemetery near Dixon, under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna. Pallbearers for Jeff will be Seth Nelson, Mark Ewers, Dustin Glascock, Cole Glascock, Carl Persicke, and Brad Robertson, with Frank Charleson and J.D. Fritchey serving as honorary pallbearers.
