Margaret Cooley Barnes, 71, passed away on November 30, 2020. Margaret was born on June 26, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Marcus Ralph & Elma (Wadsworth) Cooley.

Margaret was much loved by her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She had many friends she enjoyed playing cards and bingo with. Her love of animals was very apparent and she enjoyed interacting with them at any time. Margaret truly loved being in the service of others and tending to their needs. From an early age Margaret knew she wanted to be a nurse and worked hard to become an RN. She took her job seriously and most especially loved her time in the newborn nursery. She served for 21 years in the Army Reserve as a nurse. She was in Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

Margaret served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Gulf States Mission. She held various callings in the church but one of her favorite callings was being in the nursery. Margaret also enjoyed her time serving as a temple worker in the Ogden, Utah temple.

Margaret is survived by her step-mother Jane Cooley and 11 siblings: Eileen (Arlin), Marcus (Suzanne), Carolyn (Walt), Beth (Keith), John (Cathy), Mike (Ginger), Pam, Scott (Diana), Reonia (Don), Bill (Deanna), David (Katy) and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Marcus and Elma Cooley and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will held Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 10:30 in the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel located at 6141 West 11000 North, Highland Utah with a viewing from 9:00 – 10:15 am prior to the services. A night viewing will be held Monday December 7, 2020 from 6-8 pm at Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel. Burial will be in the Newton City Cemetery with graveside services starting at 2:00 pm.
