Billy Paul Wright was born on April 26, 1937, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and passed away on December 7, 2020, in Greenville Texas. His parents were John and Bessie Wright.

Billy grew up and lived most of his life in Mt. Pleasant. He attended Paris Jr College and became a surveyor with the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a surveyor for over fifty years with his brother J.T. Wright at Wright Brothers Surveying. He worked with Tyler Jr College surveyor students, and was famous for his annual fish frys. He enjoyed tennis, fishing, and other outdoor activities. His favorite Tex-Mex restaurant kept special, VERY hot sauce for his visits. Bill was a member of the Abundant Life Pentecostal church in Mt. Pleasant and after he retired, Living Word and Wesley Methodist churches in Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, wife Joan, and grandson Kevin. He is survived by his three daughters, Karen McClellen (James), Karole Harris, and Kathy Starnes, grandchildren Andrew, Zachary, and Jonathan McClellen, Beth Banda, Colin Starnes, and great-grandchildren Gabriel and Norah Banda.

There will be a graveside service at Old Union Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 1PM under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. A visitation will take place an hour before the service, at the cemetery.

We would like to say a "Special Thank You" to the staff of Briarcliff Health Center, Healing Touch Home Health and Colonial Lodge, for the loving and tender care they gave Daddy. A Special Heartfelt Thank You and Hugs to the Wesley UMC Joy/Homebound Group, Kevin Banks, Pastor Chris Yost and the Wesley Staff/Congregation for your love, visits and ministry for Daddy. He treasured, loved and looked forward to your visits. May God hold you close and keep you.
