Rebecca "Becky" Maud Reed was born July 18, 1933 in Weatherford, OK to Hugh and Myrtle (Hayes) Snawder. She departed this life on December 8, 2020 at home surrounded by her family at the age of 87.
Becky grew up and attended school at Watts, OK where she graduated from Watts High School in 1951. She was the youngest of five children. Her siblings were teenagers when she was born. When her sister unexpectedly passed away her nephews Dwight and Jack Coleman moved in and were raised with her. Her first job was at Bear Brand Hosiery.
She met her husband while they both were visiting family members in the hospital in 1954 in Siloam Springs, ARK. They were married April 21, 1955. They lived in Siloam Springs, ARK after they were married. They lived in California for a few years and then settled in Pryor, OK in 1966.
She began her career at Greer's Ranch House Sausage in 1966 and retired 36 years later in 2002 when her great-grandson Ethan was born to take care of him while his parents worked. When Ethan went into 1st grade she became a Foster Grandparent for Roosevelt Elementary School where she was the grandma to the 1st graders for 5 years.
Becky was very strong in her faith and was a long-time member of Salina Christian Church. She was the cornerstone of her family and loved nothing more than spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved to laugh and she had a bit of an ornery side. She loved to hop in the car with her grand-daughter Crystal on a Saturday morning and just go wherever they wanted to go that day. They were inseparable. The family enjoyed spending time in Branson especially during the holidays.
Becky is survived by her daughter Delores Reaves and husband Randy Baldwin of Aberdeen, South Dakota. Granddaughter Crystal Harriss and husband Chad of the home in Pryor. Grandson David Strickland and wife Amanda of Pryor. Great-Grandson Ethan Joice and David Strickland Jr. Great-Granddaughter Kayla Collier. Great-Great-Grandchildren Riley, Kensley and Cody.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Leon Reed. Parents Hugh and Myrtle Snawder. Siblings Jesse Snawder, Dorothy Coleman, Alfred Snawder and Rosie Cline.
