Obituary for Justine Nathalie Lancaster
Graveside services for Justine Nathalie Lancaster will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the Alva Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Neal Gordon officiating.

Justine Nathalie Lancaster, daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Temple Pearl (Gourley) Flury, was born March 6, 1916, in Avard, Oklahoma, and passed away December 7, 2020, in Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 104 years, 9 months, and 1 day.

After Justine graduated from Avard High School, she obtained her teaching certificate, then her Bachelors of Education Degree at Northwestern State College in Alva. She taught school starting in a one room school house south of Avard for several years. On December 11, 1937, she was united in marriage to Leroy Lancaster. They lived on farms mostly in the Hopeton area until moving to Alva in 1961. She lived her last eight years at Beadles Nursing Home.

Throughout her life, Justine was a lifelong member of the Avard Christian Church where she became the pianist from age 12 to age 96. Her favorite pastime was playing cards, cooking, reading books, and playing dominoes at a very competitive level. She loved taking care of nieces and nephews! She loved her family and was so devoted to everyone. She played the piano at Beadle's Nursing Home many a time for all of the residents. She loved doing that.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; three brothers, Hubert Flury, William Flury, and Joe Dan Flury; and three sisters, Lois Flury, Jermaine Bixler, and Betty Stewart.

Justine is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Public Library.

Justine Nathalie (Flury) Lancaster was inducted into the Centenarians of Oklahoma Hall of Fame on the occasion of her 100th birthday celebration. She stated that she owed her longevity to good living and encouraged everyone to stay active if they want to reach the golden age of 100. Justine lived 103 years and nine months.
