A native of Port Neches, Texas, James was a longtime resident of Jasper, Texas. He was a former President of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce; Treasurer of Lions International and a member of Good Guys & Bad Guys of Jasper. After graduating from Lamar University in 1965, he joined the US Army Reserves. He retired from the banking industry and was also a Real Estate Broker. He believed in having a good time and loved the beach. His favorite sign off was “I’ll see more of you when we go swimming.”
He is survived by his faithful and loving wife, Sherrian Burrell of Jasper, TX; son Jeff Burrell (Gina Lesch) of Houston, TX; daughters, Julie Moore of Jasper, TX, Janie Collins and husband Stephen of Nacogdoches, TX and Michelle Goodwin and husband Jody of Newton, TX; brother, Joe Burrell and wife Emiko of LaPorte, TX. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by parents Russell and Vergie Burrell.
