Billie Jean Resseguie, 92, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 in Knoxville, at the home she shared with her younger daughter.
She was born June 10, 1928 in Tishomingo County in Iuka, Mississippi, daughter of Benjamin Jonson McMeans and Oleta Johnston McMeans.
Her father worked for TVA and the family moved frequently as he worked on many of the dams that were built. She graduated from Everett High School in Maryville Tenn.
Jean was a long-time member and prayer warrior of Central Baptist Church of Oak Ridge. In earlier years, she had worked for several clothing stores and managed those departments specializing in ladies’ fashions, including Proffitts Department Store and Carol’s Fashions. Jean enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and art.
She was a nurturing and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband Eugene C. Williams; her husband of 24years, Donald George Resseguie; and two granddaughters, Katie O’Keefe and Rachel Fisk.
She is survived by son, Robert E. Williams and wife Sheri Jones of Oak Ridge;
Daughters, Frances Kozlowski of Kalamazoo, MI and her close friend and former husband, Steve Kozlowski of Oak Ridge; Virginia Williams of Knoxville; Brother, Robert Joseph “Bob” McMeans and wife Lou of Harriman; sisters, Eunice Merle Goren of Oneida, NY and Saundra Mae Cates of Wilmington, OH; Grandchildren, Erika Jones and husband Paul of Kalamazoo, MI, Rose Williams of Oak Ridge, Eileen Gormley of Knoxville and Erin Gormley of Long Beach, CA; 3 great- grandchildren, Alastair Fisk, Mantra Jackson and Gaja Jackson, all of Kalamazoo and 1 great-great grandchild, Bishop Flowers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 5:00 – 6:00pm at Weatherford. The funeral will begin at 6pm with Rev. James R. Raffety officiating. Family and friends will gather for a graveside service on Friday at 1:00pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

We honor and celebrate the life of a selfless woman who gave so much to so many. She will be greatly missed.
