He was born to Charles and Zona Hawley.
John was drafted into the army and served during the Vietnam war, from 1968-1970 when he was honorably discharged. He moved to Texas and worked in construction until 1993. John retired from TDCJ in 1996.
John is preceded in death by his brother Roy Hawley; sister, Patricia Hawley Stone; sister, Janice Hawley; daughters, Skeeter Hawley (Parrish) and Gene Peltier Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Gaines Hawley of 28 years; son, Scott Hawley (Ashley); son, Will Peltier (Kelly); grandchildren, Sarah, Kaylee, Alexis, Madison, Jackson and Avery; brother, Bob Hawley (Fran) and other extended family.
A memorial service will be at Family Faith Church.
