Daniel Ellis Saylor, 67, of Lompoc, Calif., formerly of the Bruin/Parker area, passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, in California following an illness.

Born on July 9, 1953, in Parker Township, Butler County, he was the son of the late Daniel Elmer and Margiree Texter Saylor.

Dan graduated from Karns City High School in 1971, studied at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1975, and graduated from Point Park University in Pittsburgh in 1983. Dan also continued his education in photography at the Brooks Institute of Photography and Film, graduating in 1999.

Mr. Saylor was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving for over three years from 1975 to 1979. He served as a still photographic specialist in the service attaining the rank of E-4. He was a disabled American veteran. He served in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nev.

Dan was a gifted and talented photographer, not only doing photography work for the U.S. Air Force, but for much of his civilian life, documenting life as he experienced and saw it, with family, friends and travels.

For the past 30 years, Dan spent much time studying the genealogy of the entire Texter-Saylor families.

Surviving are his wife, Sassiwan (Anna) Saylor, whom he married in West Freedom (near Parker) in July 2007; his adopted son, Benjamin Cole Taylor (also known as Teddy), of whom Dan was very proud.

He is also survived by twin sisters and their husbands, Joyce (Bill) Fair and Janice (Larry) Felix, all of Parker; his brother, Jack and his wife, Nancy Saylor, of Bruin; and his sister-in-law, Debbie Saylor of Texas.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William D. Saylor.

SAYLOR - Visitation for Daniel Ellis Saylor, who died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Wayne St., Parker, where a private funeral service will follow.

Private burial will be held in West Freedom Cemetery.
