Elsie Elizabeth was born the daughter of Solomon Gabler and Emma S (Hart) Franklin. She married William Taft Buhrman on 27 May 1933 at the Methodist parsonage in Woodstock, Virginia; Rev. Balthis officiated. Three sons and two daughters were born of their union; William L. Buhrman was still born on 11 Apr 1934 in Chambersburg PA. Their second son, was Capt. William Franklin Buhrman who died in a jet crash on the Avon Park gunnery range in Florida.
