Funeral services for Mrs. Trudy Mae Reed will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at First Baptist Church, Oakdale, with Reverend Robbie Rollins officiating.
Interment will follow in Reed Cemetery, Oberlin, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Reed, 80, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Oakdale Community Hospital, Oakdale, LA.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a beloved aunt as well. She was a longtime member of Oakdale First Baptist Church. She was a giving, kind-hearted person and she never met a stranger. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Carrie Thompson; her husband, Herman Louis Reed; five brothers, Carson Thompson, Travis Thompson, R. D. Thompson, Clayton Thompson and Steve Thompson; and three sisters, Teet Hatch, Jimmie Maricle and Evie Lou Doyle.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include one son, Michael “Monroe” Reed, of Oakdale; one daughter, Kathy Johnson, and her husband, Jerry, of Oakdale; one brother, John T. Thompson, of DeRidder; two grandchildren, Vicki Johnson Felan, and her husband, Marcos, Jr. and Jeremy Reed; and two great grandchildren, Lenyx Felan and Oliver Felan.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale, on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, December 8, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers honored to serve are: Patrick Perkins, John K. Thompson, Gregory Thompson, Trey Strother, Jack Graham and Ronald Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Brayden Gaskin and Lane Farmer.
