Roger Dale Martin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, cousin, and cherished friend, returned home peacefully on Saturday, December 5, 2020. He was born in Longview, TX on August 29, 1950 to Wilburn and Montine Martin. After high school, he attended Kilgore College and moved on to East Texas State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and made lifelong friends as a member of Acacia fraternity. He spent his career as an engineer and absolutely loved what he did. Roger was an incredibly gifted and naturally talented person who could do anything he set his mind to. In his free time, he enjoyed, woodworking, fishing, hunting, frog gigging, bowling, and singing gospel music. Above all things, he loved his home, family, and friends. Roger is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gwen Creech Martin, son Derek Martin and wife Stacey, grand-daughter Eliza, sister Ouida Martin Henson and husband John. Mr. Martin’s Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 10th at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. A graveside service will follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery.
