1962 - 2020
Victoria (Vicky) Hawes Jones passed away on December 3, 2020, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford, MS, after losing her 12-day battle with COVID-19 at the age of 58. Her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, took Vicky into his arms and removed her from her pain and suffering. Vicky led a life devoted to serving her Lord and others. She was a true woman of God. Vicky will be remembered for her many acts of kindness and generosity.
Vicky was a lifelong resident of Clarksdale, MS. She married the love of her life, Carey Jones, on April 9, 1993. Vicky was a devoted and loving wife, a wonderful mother, the greatest grandmother, the best sister, an awesome aunt, and a loyal friend. Vicky was affectionately known as "Bic Bic."
Vicky was a true southern belle who never met a stranger. She had an infectious smile that would light up the room and draw others to her. She enjoyed talking and visiting with everyone that she met.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Vicky looked forward to special occasions and holidays. She enjoyed decorating her home and celebrating with her family. Bic Bic loved spending time with her grandchildren, spoiling them, and coming up with fun adventures for them to do together. She was always there when needed for her children and grandchildren.
Vicky was a long-time and faithful member of Lyon Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served as the church hostess. She also served on the benevolence committee and organized the ladies' prayer group. Vicky had a true gift of hospitality from the Lord, and she shared it by decorating her church and organizing and hosting church functions.
Vicky is survived by her loving husband and their five children: Tori Hays Michaud (Shawn) of Nashville, TN; Pryor Hays Lee (Cary) of Hernando, MS; Marty Randall (Tom) of Steens, MS; Chris Jones (Heidi) of Austin, TX; and Emily Jones Walker (Alan) of Senatobia, MS. Bic Bic leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Haney and June Green; Garrett Havens; Cade and Alex Randall; Christopher, Rosemary, Audrey, and Everett Jones; and Emma Grace and Paxton Walker. Vicky will be greatly missed by her 4 surviving sisters: Becky Hawes Nowell (Billy) of Cleveland, MS; Lynn Hawes Hollingsworth (Fred) of Knoxville, TN; Nan Hawes Antici (Wayne) of Clarksdale, MS; and Ann Hawes of Clarksdale, MS. She is also survived by a brother in law, Randy Jones (Judy) of West Point, MS, and a sister in law, Cheryl Jones Edwards (Don) of Wichita, Kansas. She will be missed by her beloved dog, Domino. She is preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Curtis Hawes, and her brother in law, George Jones.
The family wishes to have the church homegoing service Vicky wanted and deserves, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, this is not possible. A drive-by Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13th, at Lyon Baptist Church from 2:00-3:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Oakridge Cemetery at 3:30.
Pallbearers will be Curt Hawes, Dalton Hawes, Todd Bailey, Josh Duhon, Ken Murphey, Bill Durham, Randy Jones, Eddie Simmons, and Matthew Horton.
The family requests that donations be made to Lyon Baptist Church (PO Box 325, Lyon, MS 38645), Presbyterian Day School (944 Catalpa Street, Clarksdale, MS 38614), Women's Hope Center (PO Box 276, Clarksdale, MS 38614), or the charity of your choice.
