Information on Capt. Seymour is sketchy. Of his parents and wife Prudence we are certain. Bedd was a sea captain and merchant in the West India trade. He went on to serve as Captain in Capt. Moses Goodman’s Company in the Connecticut militia in the War of 1812. Sources say he later married Nancy Cullio and had at least two sons, James (died 1824 age 14) and Freeman (died 1831 age 18). He has no known direct descendants.

Dressed Miniatures of Capt. Seymour and his first wife by New London artist Mary Way were featured on the Antiques Road Show in 2000.
