Mrs. Joyce Virginia Banks was born at Shreveport, Louisiana on August 6, 1933 to the late Matthew McNeil Stevens and Cora Elizabeth Hunt Stevens. She passed away, following a brief illness, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana on December 6, 2020. Ms. Stevens was a former kindergarten teacher and long time resident of Bossier City, Louisiana before moving near family in Bastrop, Louisiana. Along with her parents Ms. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, M/Sgt. John Herbert Banks; her son, John Douglas Banks; and nine siblings.

Ms. Banks is survived by her sister, Charlene Robinson; her daughter, Jocelyn Banks Dooley; five grandchildren, Andrea Banks, Caleb Banks, Michael Banks, Kneale Dooley, and Vol Dooley; daughter-in-law, Dianne Banks; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Graveside and committal services honoring the life of Ms. Banks will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Haughton, Louisiana under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
