Elizabeth was born about 1827 based on her age at death and as given in census records. She was the daughter of Nathaniel R. Titus and Ann "Nancy" Van Cleve. She was undoubtedly named for her maternal aunt, Elizabeth Van Cleve Blackwell. She never married. In 1880, she was living in Trenton with her niece, Josephine Titus Bechtel. At the end of her life, Elizabeth lived with her spinster sister Penelope "Neppie" (linked below) at 258 Jackson Street, Trenton.
