James Eugene “Gene” Risinger, age 70, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his home.

Born August 2, 1950 in Martinsburg, WV, he was the son of the late James Edward and Mary Elizabeth Laing Risinger.

He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church. Gene was a 1969 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He had worked as a track foreman with CSX Railroad. He was a member of Mountaintop Hunting Club, Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60, and Risinger-Stotler V.F.W. Post #4019, all in Berkeley Springs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming.

Gene is survived by his wife of 31 years, Monica Gail McCoy Risinger, at home, his daughters, Melody Dawn Stotler and her husband Roger of Berkeley Springs and Megan Lynn Broschart and her husband Taylor of Gerrardstown, WV, his sister, Mary Ford of Berkeley Springs, one brother, Steve Risinger of Hedgesville, WV, five grandchildren, Lauren Renee Schetrompf, Caleb Eli Stotler and Courtney Elise Stotler, all of Berkeley Springs, Colten Taylor Broschart and Raylen James Broschart, both of Gerrardstown and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Proper and Wayne Risinger.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Highland Cemetery, 4326 Highland Ridge Road, Berkeley Springs, WV, with Pastor Kenny Mason officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
