Elizabeth “Betty” Wren Cook, 90, of Linwood, NJ, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 6, 2020 after a brief illness. She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband John Cook who died in November 1992.

Born in Scranton on January 1, 1930, Betty was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Lucille G (Spiotto) Wren. She lived and worked in the Scranton area until John’s work took them on an adventure to Fountain Valley, California from 1981 until her return to Moosic in 2003. She worked for Prudential Insurance Company both in Pennsylvania and California spending greater than 50 years employed by that company. She was happy to return to her hometown to be closer to her beloved family. She then moved to New Jersey in 2018 to be closer to her family.

Betty has spent her adult life in community service organizations in California and the Scranton area. She was a proud former member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and UNICO. Betty was also devoted to her faith. She was very active at St. Lucy’s Church in West Scranton. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir.

Betty was an incredible aunt and cousin who will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. She was kind and caring to everyone she met. She never became angry as she only could see the good in all people. To know Betty was to love her.

She is survived by her nephew, Dr. Francis Wren, Egg Harbor Township, NJ; his spouse, Maura; and their children Frankie, Vincent, Grace, and Maggie, all of whom Betty loved like they were her own grandchildren. She is survived by many cousins and godchildren. She is prededed in death by her brother Robert Wren, her nephew John Page, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
