NORFOLK, VA – Phillip Gunter Bennett 67, passed away on November 23, 2020. He was a native of Laurinburg, North Carolina where he attended Scotland County public schools. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Ida Gunter Bennett; and two brothers, Charles Bennett and Calvin Bennett. Phillip was a Marine Corps veteran and served during the war in Vietnam. He was a resident of the Norfolk, VA area where he made his living as a welder.
Survivors include one daughter, Natalie Strudwick; one brother, Jimmy Bennett; seven sisters, Dorothy Brown, Delores Bennett, Evelyn Monroe, Ida Livingston, Shirley Bennett Cassell, Eva Moore and Christine Bennett.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 12noon at Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth is in charge.
