Elizabeth Ann Peterson, age 81, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.
She was born December 26, 1938 in Bay City, Michigan the daughter of William McIntosh and Alice Lena (Kolb) Smith. Liz graduated from T.L. Handy High School in Bay City. She and her siblings worked at “Scotty” Smith’s Grocery Store in Bay City, where she met her husband, Raymond Peterson.
Elizabeth had a love of learning family history and the history of Bay City. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, sewing, shopping, and antiques. Elizabeth loved visiting the Great Lakes and traveling.
Elizabeth will be remembered for her generous and thoughtful heart, exemplified by the many family members she cared for in their old age, and her love of gift-giving.
Elizabeth was a baptized child of God, trusting that her full forgiveness and salvation was paid for by her Savior, Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Deborah (Roger) Tews, Cheryl (Roger) Motter, and Karen Zalucha; 9 grandchildren, Nicole, Shannon, Ashley, Nicholas, Jessica, Andrew, Seth, Monica, and Mitchel, as well as several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, and brothers William, Loren, Norman, Ronald, and Thomas Smith.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 706 W. Jane Street, Bay City, Michigan 48706, with visitation beginning at noon at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, at which Elizabeth was a lifelong member.
