David Murl Bray Jr., 80, of Sayre, Oklahoma was born on March 26, 1940 in Erin Springs, Oklahoma. He is the son of David Murl Sr. and Vera Gladys (Tye) Bray. Dave met his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Hobart Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hobart, Oklahoma.
On June 24, 1960, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, Dave married his sweetheart, Delores Jo Scoggins. Dave enjoyed raising goats, working jigsaw puzzles and telling stories. Most of all Dave loved spending time with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He worked as a tool pusher on the Aleutian Island Rig in Amchitka, Alaska and also on the Parker Drilling Rig 182, the deepest oil well in America.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Lone Oak Cemetery, Sayre, Oklahoma. Kade Sanford will officiate, and Andy Taylor will assist.
Cherishing his memory is his loving wife, Jo Bray of the home; two sons, Robert Bray and his wife, Tammy of Sayre, Oklahoma and David Bray and his wife, Penny of Westbrook, Texas; one daughter, Becky Wilson of Guymon, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Jodee Woodruff and her husband, Justin of Sayre, Oklahoma, Carson Wilson of Guymon, Oklahoma, Allison Ashmore and her husband, Kevin of Midland, Texas, Michael Bray of Slaton, Texas; five great grandchildren, Brayson Woodruff, Prestyn Woodruff and Rylee Woodruff all of Sayre, Oklahoma, Titus Ashmore and Candace Ashmore both of Midland, Texas; two sisters Vera Anderson of Jones, Oklahoma and Pam Carr of Ninnekah, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Shirlene Scoggins of Midland, Texas and Charlene Hanza of Lawton, Oklahoma.
Preceded in death by his parents, Murl and Gladys Bray; three brothers, William Bray, Earl Bray and Sammie Bray; one sister, Patsy Penrod.
Memorials can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Salvation Army .
