Robert Lee Nicholas, son of John Buriette and Rosezetta Eliza (Kelso) Nicholas, was born on March 11, 1944 at Montgomery County Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa. Bob entered into eternal rest on November 9, 2020 at the Shenandoah Medical Center at the age of 76 years, 8 months, 26 days.

His early life was spent growing up in rural Montgomery County near Stanton, Iowa where he attended country school. The family later moved to Shenandoah, Iowa and Bob attended the Shenandoah Community Schools graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1963. On July 27, 1968 he was united in marriage to Kathie Marie Hammons in Shenandoah, Iowa. Following their marriage, they resided in the southwest Iowa area.

After high school, he entered the United States Army in June of 1965, attaining the rank of Corporal SP4, serving until June 1971. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to southwest Iowa. He worked at Kitchen Klatter in Shenandoah before going to work for Eaton Corporation in 1972. He retired from Eaton in 2004 after 32 years of service. He was a faithful member of the New Beginnings Church in Shenandoah and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Bob had several hobbies which included fishing, bowling, pheasant and quail hunting and trap shooting at the Isaac Walton League. He also liked watching NASCAR, the Kansas City Chiefs, and many westerns such as Gun Smoke, Bonanza and The Rifleman. He even enjoyed the Grand Old Opry. Most of all, he loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports.

Preceding Bob in death were his wife, Kathie; parents; two brothers, Donald and Martin; four sisters, Jane, Peggy, Barb and Maude; and maternal and paternal grandparents. Left to cherish his memory are his five children, Jerry Nicholas and his wife Monica of Farragut, IA, Matthew Nicholas of Elkhorn, NE, Bubba Nicholas of Farragut, IA, Sammie Jo Nicholas of Farragut, IA, and Nicole Nicholas of Farragut, IA; sister Joyce Smith of Council Bluffs, IA; 18 Grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
