Mr. William D. Yates, Sr, age 93, of Pilot Oak passed away Saturday, December
5, 2020 at his residence.
He was born on March 15, 1927 in Graves County, KY to the late Gus
Everett and Novella Lee Warren Yates.
Mr. Yates was a member of the Bethlehem Methodist Church where he served
as Treasurer for 53 years and a Sunday School Superintendent for 17 years.
He was also a member of the Water Valley Masonic Lodge 756 for 64
years. He had worked for the former A&P as a manager for 33 years, then
working for the former Pic Pac as a butcher for 10 years. He also was a
bus driver for the Graves County School System for 26 years. Mr. Yates lived
all of his life in this area.
He is survived by his children; William D. Yates, Jr (Beverly) of Water Valley,
KY and Wanda Lanell Galloway (Ronnie) of Sedalia, KY, a grandson William
(Everett) Yates and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Sue Tucker
Yates, four brothers; Virgil Yates, Jake Yates, J.T. Yates and J.L. Yates and
two sisters; Dorothy Mathis and Jeraldine Yates.
Graveside services will be held at 3PM Monday at the Bethlehem Cemetery.
