Ellen Marlene Koop-Phillips-Tinges, 81, of Effingham, IL, passed from this Earthly World into the Glory of Heaven on Thursday, December 3, 2020.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2020 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Wheeler, Illinois (rural Dieterich). Rev. Mike Burdick and Rev. Gary Fortkamp will officiate the ceremony. Ellen’s early church home was Grace Lutheran in Dieterich, Illinois. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, please wear a mask for all services and follow all social distancing guidelines.

Ellen was born on Friday, March 7, 1939 in Effingham, Illinois. Her parents were Vernon Koop and Pauline Moeller-Koop. Her brother James Koop; sister Pauletta Koop-Norris; foster sister Roxy Forthman-Anderson; and niece, Stacy Koop preceded Ellen in death. Husbands Louis Phillips and Jack Tinges have also passed on.

Ellen is survived by two daughters, Brenda Phillips and Marla Phillips-Pilcher; son-in-law, Mike Pilcher; grandson, Tyler Pilcher, wife Cheyenne Deters-Pilcher all of Effingham; her brother, Gene Koop and wife Sharon Shadwell-Koop; nephew, Bryan Koop along with family all of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania; nephew, Gary Norris and wife Cathy Schlechte-Norris and family all of Effingham; nephew and niece Wesley Anderson of Naperville and Virginia Anderson of Effingham; cousins, Bill Lude of Nashville, Tennessee and Lyndale Lude of Dieterich; along with lifelong family friends Terri Lattig of Springfield and Lula Drews of Decatur also survive.

Ellen’s career was lengthy. She was always working in the local community of Effingham. She was a fun loving sort of gal. She enjoyed dancing, laughter, tasty food, the family farm and of course all her grandson’s school and baseball friends.

Ellen will certainly be lovingly missed.
