At the young age of 9, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior because of the Gospel efforts of a group of young evangelists at the Buchanan Street Meeting Room in Des Moines, Iowa, where she lived. She continued there through her youth and met her husband-to-be, Ron Brand, in 1955. On August 9, 1957 they were married, and on November 5, 1958, their only child, Elaine, was born.
Donna loved the young people in that fellowship and realized that as Elaine was an only child she needed the fellowship of Christian young people her age, so together the family was active in and served lovingly in the church group, always with an open door at any time. If there was an event that needed planning, Donna was usually the one to be in the middle of it, bringing her gift of hospitality to make it special.
In 1977 Elaine married Rick Bilisoly of Denver, Colorado, to whom were born 2 daughters, Shaunna and Heidi. In 1984 and 1985, the family all moved to California. In 1985 Donna worked as Manager of Regency Center in Irvine until 1989. After moving to Vista, she started her own business as a medical transcriptionist, known as “Write Away Word Processing”, from which she retired in 2006.
Donna is survived by her husband, Ron; her daughter, Elaine and her husband Rick; her granddaughters, Shaunna and her husband, Jay, and Heidi and her husband, Eldon; and 3 great-grandsons, Ethan, Holden and Camden. She is also survived by 3 nieces, Rhonda, Patricia and Tammy, and one nephew, Colin Allen, all of Des Moines, Iowa.
