Vera Mae Hubbard was born on April 1, 1932, to O.D. & Preble Lee Hubbard in Plano, TX. She attended Plano schools and accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend L.H. Harper where she became a lifetime member at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Vera was a member of the Senior and Mass choirs but was known and admired as Shiloh's culinary director where she served faithfully for over 20 years.

In 1948, Vera united in marriage to Durce Guthrie, Jr. in Plano, TX. From this union, 4 children were born. He preceded her in death.

Vera met and later married Charles Bradford in 1958. To this union 6 children were born. Charles preceded her in death.

In 1980, she met and married Herbert Johnson, Jr. and they were married for 36 years. He preceded her in death in 2016.

Vera worked and retired from Texas Instruments after 26 years of dedicated service. During her tenure at Texas Instruments, Vera chose to work the night shift so that she could be available for her children during the day just in case they needed anything.
