Myrtle “Bible” Smith, age 89, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at the Center on Aging and Health.
A native of Washington County, Myrtle is a daughter of the late Cecil and Dora Hannah (Lockner) Shorter.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church and a volunteer for Care and Share.
In addition to her parents, Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband: Emerson Smith; sons: Benny Smith and Luther Jackson Smith; grandson: Dakota Smith; and sister: Thelma Smith.

Reverend Larry Wiley will officiate. Due to COVID-19 an open visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until time to leave for the cemetery. Those attending the committal service should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 2:00 pm to go in procession. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Jason Smith, Carl Harris, Dave Byrd, Dewayne Casey, Carson Woodward, Tim Miller, Daniel Smith and Carl Mac.
